Modalities

E-mail Print PDF

All three modalities—Pathwork, channeling and spiritual healing—are intended to help the client "come home" to God. But the only way to truly know God is to know yourself, to "have yourself", so to speak and inhabit the God within all of us. Our essence is basically love, though sometimes it is called light or energy.  We have patterns, ways of being in the world (defenses), that we adopted as children but which no longer serve us. When we come to understand our inner motivations and heal them, we can be free to inhabit who we truly are. And who we really are is amazing--we have the qualities of God & abilities beyond our wildest imagination.

The particular modality is not important; the journey is. So unless the client specifies that they want to do a specific type of work, I will use whatever techniques will best serve the client. This is likely to be a combination of Pathwork and healing.

Spiritual Healing

The healing that is taught at the University of Spiritual Healing and Sufism (www.sufiuniversity.org; previously known as the Jaffe Institute) is a way to bring the love, energy and power of God to bear on our problems whether they be spiritual, emotional or physical. The intention is to bring us closer to God. The job of the healer is to be as clear a channel for God's love as possible and to help the client open to receive that love. It is very powerful and profound work, often to the point of seeming miraculous.

Pathwork®

Briefly, Pathwork® (www.pathwork.org (International Foundation) or www.pathworkny.org (New York Region) is a spiritual path based on a series of lectures given by Eva Pierrakos who channeled an entity referred to as the Guide. The central theme of Pathwork® is that heaven is available to us now, here on earth; all we have to do is clear away what stands in our way of experiencing it. Heaven is essentially experiencing the oneness of all that is. (It's hard to convey a feeling for this state in words.) When we surrender our will to God's will, take responsibility for our lives, really face our misconceptions, dualistic views, negative intent, and other negativities, then we experience more of who we truly are rather than who we pretend to be. And who we are is God!

Channeling

Channeling, as it is used here, is the act of bringing through a communication from an entity of immense love and wisdom (usually, but not always, Vywamus) who is not in a body (disincarnate entity). Sometimes a channel is referred to as a medium. What I've been told is that everyone has the capacity to do it; it's just a question of doing enough purification work and/or tuning into what's happening.

We all have a part of ourselves that's connected to the oneness of the universe. When we pay attention to it, it is really a form of channeling, except that it is not a separate entity. You might know this by the names intuition or guidance.

Vywamus has "dictated" a welcome message designed to:

  •  welcome you to this site

  •  introduce you to channeling if you're not familiar with it

  •  further your journey.

Another message explains a little about channeling and love.

What are the similarities?

All three are very similar in that their purpose is to help the client come closer to God. They all help the person to:

  • realize his/her true potential which is so much greater than we can even imagine

  • let go of doing what the personality wants, which doesn’t work very well (even if sometimes, for a short time, it looks like it does), & surrender to God’s will which brings us incredible joy

What are the differences?

In channeling, the entity gives guidance and asks questions or suggests exercises to help the client. Vywamus and other such entities are very evolved beings who are very loving and supportive and non-judgmental. The channel’s job is to bring through the energy as clearly as possible, keeping his or her personality out of the session as much as possible.

Spiritual healing is really a form of channeling but instead of bringing through an entity such as Vywamus, the healer brings through God’s energy directly. The healing can be amazingly powerful.

Both channeling and healing can be done very well by phone because they are both energetic in nature.

Although a good Pathwork Helper is channeling during the session, s/he is not only channeling. The Helper uses his/her knowledge of the Pathwork concepts and tools to help the worker make the unconscious conscious, take self-responsibility, see cause and effect, and surrender to God. Pathwork works more directly with concepts while healing works more directly with your heart and as a result your head may not always know what is happening.

How can channeling, healing and/or Pathwork® help?

The role of the spirit guides whom I channel is to help humans on their path. They are beings of much love and wisdom who have a much broader perspective than we humans. They also are not caught up in the duality of earth; they experience the oneness of the universe. So they offer us their love, wisdom, and support as we remember who we are (which is what we came to Earth to do). My experience is that the guides help us to see blind spots, point us in new directions, reassure us, and inspire us. It's a wonderful experience! My understanding is also that much of what happens is not the oral communication, but the energetic infusion.

A Pathwork® Helper does much the same things as a spirit guide. The difference is that a Helper can relate more to your experience and provide more of a relationship because s/he is human. As a result, the Helper may be in a better position to give you more specifics that are easier to relate to and it may be more satisfying to have a relationship with a human counselor. Of course relating to a human may bring up more of your issues (isn't that why you go for counseling?) and s/he sometimes doesn’t have the perspective of the spirit guide.

In some ways it is difficult to describe the difference between channeling and healing. They both have a large energetic component. But healing focuses more directly on the heart and there is less talking. And of course, the most significant difference is that with healing you are working with God.

So the bottom line is that all three modalities can admirably serve you on your journey. You can choose a particular modality, but it's not necessary. If you do not have a preference, I will either recommend something, or more likely, use a synthesis of healing and Pathwork.

By their nature, channeling and healing work as well on the phone as in person, while it is preferable to be able to have in person Pathwork sessions at least some of the time. It is also customary to have regular Pathwork sessions with a particular helper while channeling and healing sessions can either be regular or as needed. And of course, if you’re in a Pathwork® Studies program, you’ll be required to see a Helper.
